VIRTUAL MOU SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN UNIVERSITAS POTENSI UTAMA (UPU) AND 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈 𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐌 𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐀 𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐁𝐃𝐔𝐋 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐌 𝐌𝐔’𝐀𝐃𝐙𝐀𝐌 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐇 (𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐒) 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐒𝐈𝐀
On August 26th, 2025, Universitas Potensi Utama (UPU) and Universiti Islam AntaraBangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (UniSHAMS) held a Virtual Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony via Google Meeting. The event aimed to strengthen institutional cooperation and open avenues for future collaboration in various academic and research fields. ..
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic & International Affairs from UniSHAMS along with university officials, as well as the Rector of Universitas Potensi Utama and her delegation. The event began with an opening prayer, the national anthems of Indonesia and the Malaysia, followed by the screening of university profile videos from both institutions.
In her remarks, the Rector of Universitas Potensi Utama, Prof. Dr. Rika Rosnelly, S.Kom, M.Kom, expressed her delight with the establishment of this partnership. She emphasized that the signing of the MoU represents a significant step in supporting UPU's vision and mission to become a leading institution in science and technology, actively contributing both nationally and internationally. UPU is committed to providing high-quality education encompassing teaching, research, and community service.
Likewise, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nasri bin Md Hussain, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UniSHAMS, warmly welcomed the partnership. He expressed his pleasure in having UPU. This effort also supports UniSHAMS's aspiration to further strengthen its position as an internationally recognized Islamic university.
This collaboration is expected to serve as a catalyst for the development of global knowledge and networks, thereby opening up more opportunities for collaboration to enhance the academic excellence of both institutions. UPU and UniSHAMS also discuss related to the first collaboration program in Faculty of Counselling, Education & Social Sciences offered by UniSHAMS, such as webinar, student mobility program, guest lectures and more. He emphasized that the partnership should go beyond the signing of the MoU and be followed by concrete implementation, such as joint publications and inter-institutional conferences. The MoU was officially signed by the Rector of UPU and the President of UniSHAMS.
Also in attendance was Prof Madya. Dr. Fatahyah Binti YahyaastheDirector of the Centre for International Relations & Collaboration from UniSHAMS, and team from UniSHAMS. Representing UPU were Nursyah Handayani, M.Hum, Director of the International Relations Office, along with the deans of Psychology, Law, Economics and Business, and also department heads.
The event was closed by the Master of Ceremony, Meisya Tantri Girsang, S.Sos, from Universitas Potensi Utama, and concluded with a group photo session. It is hoped that this collaboration will proceed smoothly and bring meaningful benefits to both institutions in the future.
